- Imp. All the leaves of the first three quires are lacking, a-b⁸ C⁴, and the first leaf of the following quire 1 (indicated
as 1, for the first quire, and a number in brackets to show which leaf in the quire is missing), that is, 1(1). In addition,
the following leaves are lacking: 2(3), 8(4)-8(8) inclusive, 9(3), 27(4)-27(5), 52(1)-52(4) inclusive, 52(8), 55(1) and finally
55(3)-55(8) inclusive.
Condition:
Leaf 54(8) is damaged with some loss of text and leaf 55(2) has been damaged and repaired with minor loss of text on the recto but with the loss of all the text on the verso.

Hand decoration:
Marginalia: MS marginalia, MS footnotes and graffiti scattered throughout text. MS inscription concerning Higden, obscured by bookplate, on pastedown of upper board, and MS notes on recto of first free end-paper.
Binding Description:
18th[?] century sprinkled calf over pasteboards; text block edges sprinkled red; spine with 5 raised bands, gilt lines, gilt-tooled ornaments and title: "Higden’s Polychronicon by W: Caxton". St. John’s College bookplate on pastedown of upper board, as well as on pastedown of lower board.
